Maria Milazzo is a Kansas City–based soprano, music director, and educator whose work spans opera, oratorio, concert performance, sacred music, and musical theatre. Known for her warm artistry and versatility, she brings both technical excellence and deep intention to every performance and collaboration.

When she's not making music or lesson planning, you can find her spending time with family, catching up with friends over coffee, and discovering the latest Taylor Swift easter eggs. She loves traveling, attending concerts and operas, seeing Broadway shows, and relaxing with a good book at the beach – not to mention spoiling her sister’s two adorable dogs regularly.

Maria Milazzo is a versatile soprano and music director whose artistry spans opera, oratorio, musical theatre, and sacred music.

 

She has performed leading and supporting roles with Opera on Tap, the University of Missouri–Kansas City Conservatory, the International Opera Performance Experience in Italy, and Eastern Opera of New Jersey.

 

Her operatic credits include Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), La Princesse (L’Enfant et les Sortileges), and Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi).

As a concert artist, Maria has appeared in major choral works with the Kansas City Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, and the University of Missouri–Kansas City Conservatory.

 

Her repertoire includes Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Faure’s Requiem, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, and Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem. She has worked under the direction of Yannick Nezet-Seguin, Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Barenboim, and Alan Gilbert, and has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Kimmel Center.

She is also a sought-after soprano soloist and cantor for church services, weddings, and special events, with recent appearances at the Kansas City Diplomatic Ball, Catholic Charities Gala, and Kansas City Festa Italiana.

Equally passionate about education and community engagement, Maria has directed numerous youth and community theatre productions, including Disaster! The Musical, Little Shop of Horrors, Frozen, Jr., Beauty and the Beast, Jr., and Seussical, Jr., among others.

 

She has served as a Director of Music and Liturgy, a PreK–8 music teacher, and a private voice instructor.

Maria holds a Master of Divinity from Saint John’s School of Theology and Seminary, a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Missouri–Kansas City, and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Westminster Choir College. She currently serves as Director of Campus Ministry at Notre Dame de Sion High School in Kansas City, Missouri.
